The Atlanta Hawks are a professional basketball team based in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1946 as the Buffalo Bisons, the team has undergone several name and location changes before becoming the Atlanta Hawks in 1968. The Hawks have not won an NBA championship, but they have made numerous playoff appearances and have had periods of competitive success.
The team plays its home games at State Farm Arena, located in downtown Atlanta. The Hawks are known for their red, white, and black team colors and have a strong following in the Atlanta area.
