The Charlotte Hornets are a professional basketball team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Established in 1988, the Hornets were originally an NBA expansion team. They achieved moderate success in their early years but did not win an NBA championship.
In 2002, the team relocated to New Orleans and became the New Orleans Hornets. Charlotte then acquired a new team, the Charlotte Bobcats, in 2004. In 2014, the Bobcats reclaimed the Hornets name and history after the New Orleans Hornets became the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Hornets play their home games at the Spectrum Center, located in downtown Charlotte. The team is known for its teal, purple, and black colors and has a passionate local fan base. Despite not having won an NBA championship, the Hornets have made several playoff appearances and remain a key part of Charlotte’s sports culture.
